State officials say Washington added a net gain of 800 nonagricultural jobs in February and the unemployment rate dipped from 9.2 percent in January to 9.1 percent last month.

The Employment Security Department says that the construction industry was the biggest gainer, adding 3,900 jobs in that period.

The jobs gain in February followed January's job growth of 11,000 nonagricultural positions, which officials called the strongest month of job growth since November 2007.

Other industries that saw job growth were government, up by 1,700, and leisure and hospitality which saw an increase of 1,600.

Retail and wholesale trade, financial activities, and professional and business services were among some of the industries that saw job losses.

Employment Security says more than 340,000 people were unemployed and looking for work during that time period.
