High School Varsity Bowling Championships Coming This Weekend

The 49th Annual State High School Varsity Bowling Championships will be held Saturday & Sunday, February 15-16, 2014, at Narrows Plaza Bowl in University Place. Admission is FREE.

     

25 five-person teams will compete in three divisions along with 40 bowlers competing in a singles division. The event will take two days to crown State Champions. Teams qualified for the State Championships based on their order of finish in regional leagues held statewide between November 1st and January 31st.

Oak Harbor High School will be vying for their 4th consecutive State Championship.

More than 1,500 student athletes statewide participate during the bowling season. Now in its 49th year, this is the 2nd longest running High School Bowling Championship inAmerica, following onlyNew York. Media coverage is invited and will be assisted.

Teams will bowl five, 5 games matches on Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m. using the Swiss Format. Teams return Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. to bowl, five, five game Baker matches with total points won over the two days determining the State Champions.

The Washington State Bowling Proprietors’ Association is a State Chapter of the Bowling Proprietors’ Association of America based in Arlington, Texas.
