NCW Teams Have Good Showing at State Tennis

The Cashmere girls doubles team of sisters Aleah and Lauren Kert won the 1B/2B/1A state championship Saturday at the Yakima Tennis club.  The Kert sisters breezed through the tournament knocking out each of their opponents in straight sets.

Also placing from the Caribou Trail league were Abby Martin and Bella Gatzemeier of Chelan who placed 5th, Stella Johnson and Megan Evans of Cascade took home 6th place in girls doubles.

In girls singles, Emma McLaren of Chelan brought home 6th place and Molly Wiser of Cascade brought home 8th place.

In boys doubles, Ryan Cooper and Huber Farias of Cashmere brought home  4th place  and the Tonasket team of Eric Owsley and Eli Holz finished in 6th place.  Owsley and Holz won their first match 6-3, 6-4 over a team from Charles Wright Academy. In the second round they faced the team of Morrill and Colclasure of Connell, winning 6-2, 6-1.  They lost in their third match to the Seattle Academy team of Anders Gibbons and Tate Gibbons, who went on the win the state championship.

Omak’s boys doubles team of Braden O’Dell and Chase Grillo, were knocked out in the consolation semi-finals by the Charles Wright Academy team of Jimmy Opitz and Max Jorgenson who ended up taking home 5th place.

In boys singles, Caleb Hardesty of Tonasket brought home a 4th place finish, while Wyatt Habich of Chelan brought home 5th and Tobin Weir of Chelan took 8th place.
